This is a Painting Competition applying the guidelines of the C. Russell Myers Fund with four
categories of paintings, including a “Novice” category. There will be approximately $2,100 in awards
with a “Best in Show” and awards in each category. All paintings should be realistic enough in style
that “a 12-year old can tell what the subject matter is”.
Open Competition – Cash Awards
1) Entries received on Wednesday, October 20th and Saturday, October 23rd between 10am
and Noon at the Kendall Art Gallery. Non-members may enter this SAAC competitive show.
2) Entry form & check or cash are due at registration. Make checks payable to SAAC.
3) Awards announced at the November 1st SAAC meeting and displayed on the Club website.
The Myers Exhibition will be on display from November 1st through December 11th.
The Judge for this show will be Lisa Highsmith, Curator of the Mayer Museum at Angelo State
SAAC Members: $15 per entry (20% commission on sales)
Non-members: $20 per entry (30% commission on sales)
University students w/ID: $10 per entry (10% commission on sales)
Novice artists: $10 per entry (10% commission on sales)
Artists may enter any Categories they choose within the limit of four total entries. Paintings do not have
to be for sale, but they must be properly wired for hanging. (No saw-tooth edge hangers, or wet paint.) There is a
size limit of 48” in any one direction of a painting.

Note: Novice painters may self-select to enter this category. They should be developing or beginning painters
who have never (or rarely) entered an art competition, have never (or rarely) won an award for their art, and/or
have never (or rarely) sold their paintings. Artists may win only one cash prize in each category. All artworks should not previously have won an award in a SAAC judged exhibition. Art may be re-entered one time only in a SAAC Exhibition.
ELIGIBILITY & SPECIFICATIONS: Open to All Artists. Entries must be ORIGINAL: No copies of other
artist’s work, or workshop or classroom works. (Direct copies of professional paintings or published photographs
are not considered your original work, but the work of the artist or the photographer.) SAAC reserves the right to
refuse an entry not in good taste or not in compliance with the Club’s rules. No refunds of entry fees.
